Finally Cape Town!

Today we arrived in Cape Town, 3300km behind in 10 days, well done I think. After our stay in East London we drove to Plett, I had booked a lodge for us the day before, we got it for a very good price and we did not expect to have a whole 4 bedroom house for ourselves, with kitchen, swimmingpool etc....:) But we ended up all sleeping in one room. We stayed at Starfishlodge, not with a seaview, but just a few minutes walkway from the beach, perfect for a group of friends travelling together, or a familygroup, you have your privacy here and it is very well looked after. We did not have so much time in Plett, as we arrived in the late afternoon, and in the morning we left around 9am, for a visit to Monkeyland, for Liina& Viivi to see some monkeylife:) It was an interesting 1h tour, saw monkeys between the trees and running past us and making sounds.
After that it was our last long drive to get closer to Cape Town, the size of South Africa keeps on suprising us, we estimated our driving time to about 5 hours, looks on the map like 2-3 hours, but ended up being on the road until 7pm again....what is wrong with us!!!:)
But we still got to De Kelders while light, an area next to Gansbaai, from where one can go shark cage diving. We stayed at a beautiful 5star guest house called Seastar Lodge, can warmly recommend this place for anyone who wants a feeling of being home in a luxurious environment, all small details in place. When we arrived owner had arranged dinner reservations for us and we got a glas of sparkling wine. Our room had a full on view of the ocean, with windows from the floor to the ceiling. The owner has designed the guesthouse himself, there is even a sauna:) A nice pool, and the view is just amazing. This morning we saw the tails of two whales splashing around in the water just 50m from the shore.
And then we started our last stretch to Cape Town, 150km,and arrived at 15h00 and we where quite curious to see the apartment we are staying next 4 months in....and it turned out to be a nice suprise. It is spacious, lots of light streaming trough, in a nice area, close to shops, and 5min walk from the V&A Waterfront, and from our balcony we can see the new Stadium, just across the street. Pictures are coming soon!
We are happy, our roadtrip went well, we are settled in here in Cape Town, tomorrow we go shopping for a christmas tree and decorations, girls have talked about that the last week now.
Time to go bathing the girls and getting them ready for their first night in this apartment, they get to share a room, but that works fine, still at this age:)

Sunny smiles from Cape Town!

Jannika
