New chapter for the blog!

Hello everyone!

By saying a new chapter I mean updates every month, if not every week:)
Sometimes it is difficult to find what to write about and the time goes by and I forget to write, but I realized that it does not  have to be something that happens here and now, it can be about anything that has made an impact on me while travelling, people, destinations, what to pack with when travelling, different ways of travelling, how one can be active while travelling, by doing hiking, running, cycling etc- just thoughts that might help to make someones travelling easier:) But main focus will be on travelling.

First a short update what has happened lately. Last year was a bit more quite than the year before, I dont know how much the Ebola outbreak had an impact on the travelling as we concentrate mainly on southern africa, far away from the affected areas, but also the economical situation in the world made it more difficult for many to travel to far away destinations.

Last season we introduced some new grouptours, besides Cape Town and Kruger Park in SA, also Victoria Falls and Chobe in Botswana. All very much appreciated and enjoyed by guest. In march I travelled with a group onboard Rovos Rail, such a relaxed and enjoyable journey with the best service you can imagine without making it feel overdone, big thanks to everyone looking after us!

I also participated in a few travel events this season, starting with BTTE in Kasane, Botswana in December. Such a great way to meet people in the same field of work, building up relations in a informal environment. In January we participated in MATKA travel show in Helsinki,  it was great to see the huge interest for southern africa and meeting people , talking all day long about destinations that are close to my heart :)
In march I visited ITB in Berlin, one of the biggest travel shows arranged during the year, many meetings and much accomplished.

We have also updated our website Africa Experts, and next step will be to translate into swedish and english,

We will have some new destinations we will add on to our selection besides southern africa, which of course will remain our number one destination from where everything started over 10 years ago ( South Africa).., new destinations we are looking into are  Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique,Uganda gorilla trekking, Malawi,Tanzania, Kenya..as long as the situation in Kenya gets a bit more stable as safety comes first regarding everything we do.
And then Botswana! Botswana is the country I will put a lot of time and effort on to market in the future, what a wonderful destination! Once you go there you realize what I mean:) If you enjoy nature, wildlife  and genuine people, then please pack your bags and head to Botswana! Okavango Delta  was chosen the 1000th  Unescos Heritage site in year 2014, and it is an amazing place, I will write more in another update about Okavango Delta itself!
From now onwards I will represent DESERT AND DELTA SAFARIS  in Botswana for the Scandinavian market, looking forward to this new venture. It is so amazing to be able to do something I enjoy doing, isnt that what we all strive for, to be able to enjoy what we are doing and at the same time earn a living, I think Im very fortunate to be able to combine these two aspects! So if you are interested to know more about Desert and Deltas lodges and packages, just contact me!

Next week we are travelling to South Africa whole family, meeting family on that side,I think it is important for our children to be able to meet their grandparents and cousins as often as possible, and also feel the connection to southern africa, not just because of the family living there but  also because I travel so many times a year there and it makes it easier for me to explain to them where Im going when they have been there and understand. We will also spend 1 week in Botswana during our journey- in the Maun-Okavango Delta area :)
Here follows a few pictures from our last visit a year ago to Okavango Delta,

I wish you all a lovely weekend, spring is in the air FINALLY  here in Finland!

Love,

Jannika
